SMS alerts let you stay in touch and up to date. If there is an item you are bidding on, you can set up an alert to notify you when you get out bid. Receiving out bid alerts will be free of charge. However as this is a premium service, you will be charged R1.50 for every sms you send to Bob Shop. Follow these steps to set up your account for SMS alerts:
Step 1: Set an alert
When you find an item you want to bid on and you would like to be informed about bidding progress, simply bid on the item, select the SMS Alert option and decide when you would like to receive the notification. You will then be able to receive out-bid alerts on that particular item. You can set SMS alerts on as many items as you like.
Step 2: Receive an alert
Depending on your SMS alert time preferences, Bob Shop will send you an out-bid alert for a particular item as soon as you have been out bid by another user.
Step 3: Bid!
To increase your bid, simply reply to the out-bid alert or send a SMS to 33003 with the word BID, the short code received and the amount you wish to bid (example: bid XYZ 250). In the example, it will mean that you wish to bid a maximum of R250 per item on the item represented by the short code XYZ.
Step 4: Get confirmation
After you have submitted your new bid, Bob Shop will inform you whether your bid was successful or not. If your bid was unsuccessful, you may continue to increase your bid by repeating step 3 until you are the highest bidder.
